Vice Chairman of DPD RI and Some Leaders Declared the State Rescuer Council

Some leaders are concerned over the problems in Indonesia, from economic issues to security issues. Based on it, these leaders made a declaration of State Rescuer Council (DEPAN), a movement to save Indonesia from failure. The declaration took place at the lobby of Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (10/02).

The leaders who attended thought that Indonesia is already heading toward failure. Vice Chairman of DPD RI, Laode Ida, said that this movement was a concrete step toward improvement. "Those who did not join the State Rescuer Council mean that they destroy the country, we are heading to a failure state," he said.

He said that the Indonesian nation problems were in the leadership. Hundreds of area in Indonesia is led by people with problems. "The president is not the single determining factor of everything, this is leadership issue, it is a system and culture in it," he explained.

Senator of DPD RI from Central Java Province, Poppy Dharsono said that corruption must be resolved, because it brought poverty and ignorance. Poppy also said that the clean legal problems should be enforced. “Without good law enforcement officers from the judiciary, then the law cannot be enforced," she said.

Besides Laode Ida, the motors of this movement were Effendy Choirie (politician of PKB) Bambang Soesatyo (Politician of Golkar Party), Johnson Panjaitan (adviser of Indonesian Police Watch). A total of 17 leaders in attendance, there were expressed their opinion. They were Putu from Indonesian pastor Association, Permadi, Don Frasti from Papua Association, Arbi Sanit (political observer), Lily Wahid, Saurip Kadi, Rieke Dyah Pitaloka, and Fuad Bawazier. These leaders took turns voicing their opinions. Such as Lily Wahid, who highlighted the corruption problem and good faith of the government to overcome it.
