DPD RI Will Guard Regional Aspirations Until the Service Period Ends

Jakarta, dpd.go.id - The House of Regional Representative (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia is committed to continue to oversee and fight for regional aspirations in its tenure which will end on September 30, 2019, as a representation of the regions and manifestations of the responsibilities of DPD RI for the period 2014-2019. This was raised during the 13th DPD Plenary Session which was opened by the Chairman of DPD RI, Oesman Sapta, Vice Chairmen of DPD RI, Nono Sampono, Darmayanti Lubis and Akhmad Muqowam, at Nusantara V Building, Parliamentary Complex MPR / DPR / DPD RI Senayan Jakarta, Thursday , July 18, 2019.

Vice Chairman of DPD RI, Nono Sampono while leading the 13th Plenary Session stated that the DPD would continue to be productive in producing institutional output in the remainder of service, and would continue to guard and fight for the aspirations and interests of the people and regions as representation of regions and manifestations of our alignments .

"In the remaining period of service that will end on September 30, we will continue to be productive in guarding and fighting for the aspirations and interests of the people and regions, as a manifestation of our alignments with the region. In addition, we will continue to oversee the Bill on DPD RI which is currently being rolled out considering that this bill strongly determines the roles and functions of DPD RI in the future, the mechanism of DPD's work and the Check and Balances of DPD RI against the DPR, "said this Senator of Maluku.

In the meeting, Vice Chairman of Committee I Fahira Idris reported the results of the implementation of Committee I duties. Today Committee I is preparing the drafting of Regional Competitiveness Bill (DSD) and State Territory Bill, and targets to be finalized and ratified in the 15th Plenary Session will be held on September 30, 2019. In addition, Committee I also reports the results of the Supervision of DPD RI on the Implementation of Act Number 6 Year 2014 concerning Villages; and the views of the DPD RI on the Community Bill

"Committee I produced a recommendation on Supervision of the Implementation of the Village Act to the Government, namely returning the implementation of the Village Act according to the mandate of the Village Act, then optimizing the Village Fund formulation based on the Village Act and conducting village oversight mechanisms by the Village Consultative Body. Besides that, which is no less important, Committee I encouraged the Regional Government to issue Regional Regulations on Village Arrangement so that the planning, assessment and design of village arrangements are better controlled, "said this DKI Senator.

The Vice Chairman of Committee II DPD RI, Carles Simaremare explained the progress of the implementation of Committee II's duties at the 13th Plenary Session this time. Committee II has drafted the Bil (RUU) of DPD RI's Initiative, namely the Draft Bill on Amendments to Act Number 22 Year 2009 concerning Road Transport Traffic and the Draft Bill on Amendments to Act Number 17 of 2008 concerning Shipping.
"We have carried out two validity test activities. The first was held on July 8, 2019, in collaboration with the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI) in Yogyakarta Province to discuss the draft academic text and draft bill on Amendments to Act Number 22 Year 2009.
Second, continued Carles, held on July 15, 2019 in collaboration with Universitas Taman Siswa in West Sumatera. On this occasion, it discussed the draft of the academic text and the draft bill on Amendments to Act Number 22 Year 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. Such as the preparation of DPD RI's Supervision on the Implementation of Act Number 18 Year 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.
Not only that, continued Dedi, as stated in the previous Plenary Session that one of the program activities of Committee III during the Session Period V of 2018-2019 was to carry out oversight of the Implementation of Act Number 18 Year 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.

"A series of activities have been carried out by Committee III in the form of Hearings, material inventories through recess activities of Committee III members until they reached the final stage in the form of finalization activities on the 2nd and 3rd of July," said Dedi.

Dedi added that Committee III DPD RI had also compiled considerations on the Draft Bill on Medical Education. Committee III of DPD RI considers that the bill still has problems, especially the magnitude of the cost of medical education in Indonesia. "There is pressure from the public so that the government can review the cost policy of medical education. The government is also expected to provide subsidies for the cost of medical education, "he said.

On the same occasion, Chairman of Committee IV DPD RI Ajiep Padindang explained the findings of the Summary of Semester Examination Results (IHPS) II in 2018 by the Indonesian Audit Board (BPK) to be the main concern of DPD RI. For this reason, in order for the results of the BPK to be of higher quality and correlate with local government programs, the DPD RI and the DPR RI need to support BPK's efforts to increase the number of BPK.
