Senator Emma Yohana Meets with Minister of PUPR: Don't Have a Lagging Program

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – The House of Regional Representatives of The Senat of Indonesia (DPD RI) member from the constituency of West Sumatra Emma Yohana met Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono in Jakarta during the Technical Team Working Meeting of Committee II DPD RI. The working meeting was held at the Main Building of the Ministry of PUPR, Jakarta, Thursday (29/9/2022).

Emma Yohana expressed her appreciation for the Teluk Tapang road program for the 2023 work plan. However, Emma emphasized that the existing programs in West Sumatra could be sustainable and not stalled.

As is known, several road construction projects in the West Sumatra region are threatened with stalling. Various problems have emerged in the public sphere.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that for West Sumatra, the construction of the Lubuk Alung-Sicincin toll road was still waiting for coordination with stakeholders. He asked the Governor of West Sumatra to immediately resolve the existing problems.

"I am waiting for the Governor's orders because I am afraid I will make a mistake. My subordinates are called by the Regional Police Chief, so I withdraw all of them. And I will stop construction first, waiting for the direction of the Governor of West Sumatra," said Basuki.

Regarding the toll road, which has yet to show further progress, Basuki is of the opinion that the city of Padang will not be able to develop if it cannot pass through or is not connected to Pekanbaru.

In connection with this, Basuki also revealed the occurrence of confusion regarding the Padang-Solok road, especially the Sireview Lauik route. "I am very embarrassed. I have asked the Director General of Highways to review Sireview Lauik today," said Basuki. He also said that the Sireview Lauik route is likely to be made similar to the Kelok Sembilan route in the 50 City District. *
