The 9th Plenary Session of DPD RI Continues to Discuss the Supreme Court Decision

Jakarta, dpd.go.id - "One of the agenda of the Plenary Session is to read out the Decision of Supreme Court No.20P / HUM / 2017," as conveyed by AM. Fatwa (Interim Leader) while reopening the 9th Plenary Session (Sipur) of DPD RI at Nusantara Building, Senayan-Jakarta, Tuesday, (4/04/2017).

Secretary General of DPD RI, Prof. Dr. Sudarsono Hardjosoekarto reads out the Decision of the Supreme Court which granted the petition filed by a number of DPD members on the judicial review of the Rules of Procedure of DPD No. 1 Year 2017 related to the tenure cuts of DPD leadership and and make retroactive of the DPD leadership who served. Through the Supreme Court Decision No 20P / HUM / 2017, the Supreme Court decides that the term of office of DPD Leadership is 5 (five) years according to membership period. In the Supreme Court Decision, the Regulation of the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 Year 2017 dated February 21, 2017 on the Rules of Procedure is contradictory to the higher laws and regulations, namely the Act Number 12 Year 2011 on the Establishment of Legislation and therefore it is not valid And has no binding legal force.

The Supreme Court instructs the Chairman of the House of Regional Representative to revoke the Regulation of the House Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 Yeat 2017 dated 21 February 2017. Instructs the Registrar of the Supreme Court to send this decision to the Secretary of State for inclusion in the State Gazette. Punish the Respondent to pay a case fee of Rp1,000,000.00 (one million rupiah).

AM Fatwa who is the oldest member of DPD RI accompanied by Riri Damayanti, the youngest member of DPD RI as the Temporary Leader state that after hearing the Supreme Court Decision, the Regulation of Rules of Procedure Number 1 Year 2017 is revoked so that new regulation apply by amending the Rules of Procedure 1 Year 2017. The next agenda is the election of leader.

After the election of DPD Leaders Candidates in deliberation, the result of the election is Darmayanti Lubis from the Western Region, Oesman Sapta from the Central Region, and Nono Sampono from the East as the leaders.

Furthermore, the Leadership meeting provides an opportunity for the three leaders candidates to make consensus to determine their respective positions. After being suspended for five minutes, Darmayanti Lubis as the representative of the leaders conveys, "In accordance with the results of the three of us, we decide Oesman Sapta as Chairman of DPD RI, Nono Sampono as Vice Chairman I, and I, Darmayanti Lubis am ready as Vice Chairwoman II DPD RI," says Darmayanti .

"Can we approve Oesman Sapta as Chairman of DPD RI, Nono Sampono as Vice Chairman I, and Darmayanti Lubis as Vice Chairwoman II DPD RI," exclaims AM Fatwa.

"Agreed," members of DPD RI simultaneously greeted it with boisterous applause.

The plenary session was suspended and returned at 19.00 WIB, with the agenda of the inauguration of DPD RI. in this regard, the Secretariat General of DPD RI coordinates with the MA Secretariat. (Ank)
