Chairman of DPD RI: Keep Harmony and Tolerance in The Political Year


Jakarta, dpd.go.id - Chairman of DPD RI, Oesman Sapta calls for maintaining harmony and tolerance in the political year. This was revealed when he was a resource person at the National Coordination Forum of Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) with the theme "Improving Role and Function in Order to Keep National Harmony to Support the Successful Implementation of 2018 Regional Election and 2019 Election Preparation" at Building Bidakara, South Jakarta. Wednesday (18/4).

On the occasion, Oesman Sapta conveyed his optimism that Pancasila as the base of the Unity of the Republic of Indonesia is not negotiable.

"I have confidence and optimism that Indonesia will continue to live and prosper more than a thousand years if we all remain united and eager to build this nation. To achieve this, we must make Pancasila as the basis and guide in running the life of nation and state. By making Pancasila the foundation, our diversity will always go hand in hand with our sense of unity. We will be human beings who see that the difference is a blessing, "said Chairman of DPD RI.

Further, the Chairman of DPD RI in his speech said that DPD RI is a miniature of Political, Social, Cultural (POLSUSBUD) Indonesia. This is clearly reflected in the diversity of the background of DPD RI members themselves. In the institutional structure of DPD RI, the focus of DPD RI’s attention is to build regions to improve the welfare of the people and equity of development and social justice for all the people of Indonesia.

"It is at this point that DPD RI gives special attention to the continuous maintenance of harmony among religious believers considering that the Indonesian nation has been predestined by God Almighty as a nation that is geographically, ethnically and culturally diverse, even in religious beliefs," he continued.

In line with that, the Chairman of the Indonesian Council of Ulama, Ma'ruf Amin appreciated the services of the scholars when establishing Indonesia and for the NKRI that the Jakarta Charter is similar to the Medina Charter created and built with a strong agreement between the fellow countrymen.

"This is the real tolerance and the nation is built on a strong covenant among peoples, I believe this is like a madina charter, a document composed by Prophet Muhammad SAW, which is a formal agreement between him and all tribes and clans there to live side by side peacefully. Our country has come together to co-exist, and in the perspective of Islam the covenant should not be violated. We will keep tolerance and harmony of NKRI Insha Allah not only until 2030 but until doomsday, "said Chairman of MUI.

Attending the event were Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR), Bambang Soesatyo, Chairman of DPD RI Oesman Sapta, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim Syaifuddin, Vice Chairman of DPD RI, Nono Sampono, Senator of DPD RI, Benny Rhamdani, Junior Attorney General, Jan S Maringka, and leaders of religious leaders.

Oesman Sapta added that as part of the national political agenda which will enter the period of the 2018 Serial elections and the 2019 Presidential Election, he called on generations of change makers, to strengthen the foundations and pillars of our nationalities, those foundations of national unity and pillars of social harmony are the inheritance to the next generation of this nation

"I invite and encourage the brothers of all components of the nation through the Interfaith Harmony Forum to maintain social harmony, interfaith harmony as a call of noble duty in this political year," concluded this Senator from West Kalimantan. ** mas
