DPD RI Responds to the Nation Problems

JAKARTA, dpd.go.id (12/11) - The House of Regional Representative (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia conveyed several attitudes regarding several events which caused polemic in the community. Some of these events were like the catastrophic fall of the Lion Air plane in Karawang waters, the execution of Indonesian Workers (TKI), Tuti Tursilawati, in the country of Saudi Arabia, and the burning of a flag that read the tauhid sentence in Garut some time ago.

Regarding the crash of the Lion Air plane, Vice Chairman of DPD RI Nono Sampono, expressed his deep condolences for the fall of the Lion Air JT-610 plane on the Jakarta-Pangkalpinang route on October 9, 2018 in Tanjung Pakis, Karawang, West Java. Vice Chairman of DPD RI Nono Sampono requested that in the future the commercially oriented aviation industry must prioritize the element of safety.

"Cheap tickets do not mean ignoring the safety system. The progress of the national aviation industry is highly dependent on public confidence in the safety of its flight. The progress of the national aviation business directly can certainly also encourage the growth of the national economy, "he said in the Plenary Session of DPD RI which was held on Monday (12/10) at the Nusantara V Building in the Parliament Complex.

In the session which was also chaired by the Vice Chairmen of DPD RI, Darmayanti Lubis and Akhmad Muqowam, DPD RI requested that the government as the regulator always carry out optimal supervision of the national aviation industry. DPD RI requested that in the future, periodic audits of all crew involved in a flight be carried out, such as pilots, co-pilots, support staff, or planes to be flown. Nono also requested that the Committee II DPD RI as the Organ in charge of the aviation industry be able to participate in conducting supervision.

"We hope that through Committee II that we can supervise the implementation of Act No. 1 Year 2009 concerning Aviation. "Supervision of DPD RI is needed to ensure the implementation of the Act and improvement of the national aviation system," said this Senator from Maluku Province.

Furthermore, DPD RI also expressed deep concern and sorrow for the execution of TKI Turalilawati from Majalengka. The DPD RI regretted that the execution carried out on 29 October 2018 by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was carried out without notice to the government of the Republic of Indonesia in advance.

DPD RI also supports the government to protest strongly against the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, Committee III of DPD RI was asked to increase supervision of Indonesian migrant workers working abroad. Where the supervision includes the process of leaving Indonesian migrant workers abroad, PJTKI, and placement of migrant workers abroad, as well as monitoring the fate of Indonesian migrant workers abroad.

"The DPD RI hopes that no more Indonesian migrant workers abroad will be sentenced to death and of course this is part of the state's duty to protect it," added Nono Sampono.

The third problem highlighted by the DPD RI was the burning of a flag bearing the tauhid sentence stated by the police as a flag of Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) in Garut, West Java. The DPD RI requested that the public remain calm in dealing with the problem, and surrender it to the ongoing legal process. The DPD RI asks that every element of society be expected to maintain conduciveness in the community, especially ahead of the 2019 Presidential Election. In the future it is hoped that all parties will be more sensitive to what is happening in the community.

"The DPD RI hopes to create mutual respect between fellow groups and not be suspicious of each other - suspecting that it is only dividing the unity of the nation. Inter-religious harmony must be maintained as a potential for this nation to be more advanced, "said Nono Sampono.
