The Plenary Session of DPD RI: DPD RI Will Conduct Supervision of 2019 Election Implementation in Each Region


Jakarta, dpd.go.id – The House of Regional Representative (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia held the 11th Plenary Session of 2018-2019. The meeting produced various supervisory decisions; such as flight problems, rising airport fares, medical education and guarantor institutions. The DPD also highlighted the importance of implementing safe and peaceful elections. For this reason, every DPD RI members will supervise the implementation of the 2019 Election.

The session, chaired by Vice Chairman of DPD RI Nono Sampono and Vice Chairwoman of DPD RI Darmayanti Lubis, has a main agenda including Report on the implementation of Tasks, Ratification of Decisions of DPD RI, and Closing Speeches at the End of Session IV Petiod Year 2018-2019.

Before returning to the region, the Vice Chairman of DPD RI Nono Sampono gave advice to succeed in the simultaneous 2019 elections on April 17. He appealed to all members of DPD RI to supervise the Pre and Post implementation of the Legislative Election and the President.

"The DPD RI as regional representation has a very strategic role in guarding the implementation of the Legislative Election and Presidential Election so that it continues to be conducive, safe and orderly in each region," said Nono Sampono at Nusantara V Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, Friday (29/3) .

Therefore, he continued, the active role of each member of DPD RI together with all elements of society in the region is expected to make the election peaceful. Besides that, it can be used as an election filled with a spirit of togetherness and family. "So as to produce a nation leader who is in line with our expectations," hoped this senator from Maluku.

At the submission of the report of the organs, Chairman of Committee II DPD RI Aji Mirza Wardana said that his party had supervised the Act No. 1 Year 2009 concerning Aviation. Therefore, the DPD RI urged the government to immediately issue a derivative regulation in the form of a Government Regulation (PP) governing aircraft. "The government must also establish an Aviation Professional Assembly (MPP) mandated by Article 323 and 364 of the Aviation Law," he said.

Not only that, Committee II DPD RI also urged the Business Competition and Supervisory Commission (KPPU) to trace the alleged cartel which caused unilateral increase in airplane ticket prices in recent months. "We also urge that the price of airplane tickets be announced at the beginning of each month as a form of transparency," he explained.

On the same occasion, Chairwoman of BKSP DPD RI GKR Ayu Koes Indriyah said that in order to strengthen parliamentary relations and bilateral cooperation with friendly countries namely Austria and Slovakia. Where, the DPD RI needs to carry out intensive communication on an ongoing basis with the Bundesrat (Austrian Senate). "This is to establish and strengthen the development of world bicameral institutions and bilateral relations between the two countries," he said.

Ayu explained that Slovakia has a good quality of education and is able to create experts in the engineering and automotive fields. In fact, the Slovak Ministry of Education opens opportunities for cooperation with the University of Indonesia. "We want to invite Committee III of DPD RI to encourage the realization of this cooperation so that more Indonesian people want to study in Slovakia," she said.

In addition, Chairman of Committee I Benny Rhamdani reported that currently Committee I is drafting a Bill on Regional Competitiveness. According to him, regional competitiveness is needed to sustain gait and position of Indonesia's competitiveness. "The ideal regional development model also needs to be formulated in an effort to accelerate development in the region," he said.

Benny added that the big hope for improving and developing regional competitiveness was actually followed by adequate regulatory support and certainty. "It takes a law to support the development of regional competitiveness which has now become a global issue," he explained.

On the same occasion, Chairman of Committee III Dedi Iskandar Batubara said Committee III DPD RI had carried out the drafting of considerations on the Draft Bill on Medical Education. The process of deepening the material has been carried out since the previous trial period. "The material content that is quite complex encourages Committee III to continue to explore data from several sources," he said.

Dedi assessed the fundamental problem of the drafting of the Medical Education Bill was the difference of opinion between the government and the medical profession organization. Where these differences are related to the need for this Act. "However, the government recognizes that there are many implementing regulations that until now have not been issued," he said.
