Iran Parliament Praises Indonesia as an Example for Other Islamic Countries


Jakarta, dpd.go.id - The Iranian parliament praises Indonesia as an example of an Islamic country that has a rapid development in all sectors not only in the Asia Pacific region but also in the world. The statement conveyed by the delegation of Iran's parliament while meeting the Vice Chairman of the House of Regional Representative (DPD) RI, Nono Sampono at Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (8/3).

During the meeting, Nono Sampono welcomed the visit of the Iranian parliamentary delegation. According to him, Indonesia has a historical and emotional relationship with Iran. Both are countries with a majority Muslim population on the world's largest. For that, as fellow Islamic countries, Indonesia and Iran should be shoulder to shoulder and pay attention to one another.

"As a nation, we can no longer only think of ourselves, but also think about the interests of the region, the security and welfare of the region around us, especially those that can disrupt the security stability and result in disruption of the economy in our region, it also applies to fellow Islamic countries that should be shoulder to shoulder," said Nono Sampono.

North Sulawesi Senator, Benny Rhamdani, who agreed with the statement, appreciateed Iran, which views Indonesia's important position in promoting good relations in various fields.

Meanwhile, the leader of the delegation of Iran, Mahmoud Sadeghi welcomed the acceptance of DPD RI. Mahmoud hoped that the relationship between Indonesia and Iran is increasing.

He added that Iran sees Indonesia as an example and role model for other Islamic countries, because besides being able to maintain the stability of its territorial security, Indonesia is also seen as the most rapid country of economic development.

"A few days in Indonesia, we feel and see for ourselves that Indonesia is undeniably advanced very rapidly. This is what drives us to further cooperation. We see Indonesia has strategic strength at this time, and become a barometer in running the life of nation and state, "he said.

Furthermore, Mahmoud added that his party is hoping to immediately improve the cooperation of the two countries not only in politics, economy, but also health, education and tourism, "he concluded.

The meeting was also attended by Vice Chairman of Committee II DPD RI, Aji Mirza Wardana, Deputy Chairman of Committee for Parliamentary Cooperation (BKSP), GKR Ayu Koes Indriyah, and Plt. Secretary General of DPD RI Ma'aruf Cahyono.
