BAP DPD RI Suggests Leniency for Ex-Employees to ExxonMobil Indonesia


Jakarta, dpd.go.id - Public Accountability Committee (BAP) of the House of Regional Representatives (DPD) invited ExxonMobil Indonesia and the Aceh Provincial Government in a Hearing (RDP) to follow up the ex-ExxonMobil employees' aspirations in North Aceh regarding claims of ex-employee rights unpaid by companies. The hearing was led Novita Anakotta accompanied by Ahmad Sadeli Karim, Vice Chairman of BAP together with members of BAP in Building B DPD RI Senayan-Jakarta, Wednesday (07/02/2018).

Ghazali Abbas Adan, Senator from Aceh stated that this meeting is a follow up of the aspirations of former ExxonMobil Indonesia employees who have not received the gratuity and compensation pay award whereas the dismissal is done unilaterally. Although the obligations have been completed by the company and ex employees are on the weak side but nevertheless the former employees are meritorious to the company. It is expected that the company can provide the welfare / policy to the ex employees.

Aryoko Dwinanto, Representative of ExxonMobil Indonesia clarified that it is true that in 2012 until 2013 there is a reduction of employees due to reduced production. And for the rights of the laid-off employees, it has been settled by the vendors who recruit these employees, because we do not deal directly with the employees but with the vendors. With regard to the leniency, we will convey to the leadership to consider giving leniency to ex ExxonMobil Indonesia employees.

Justifying the statement of the company, Head of the Aceh Province Manpower Supervision Division, Putut Rananggono said that the issue of ExxonMobil Indonesia with ex-employee status has been completed in 2013. From the aspect of the employment norm, it has been completed, however the former employee has no direct working relationship with ExxonMobil Indonesia but with vendor / third parties of the company. Regarding leniency is the policy of the company.

At the end of the hearing, the Chairman of BAP DPD RI asked the ExxonMobil Indonesia Representative to submit to the Board of Directors to consider providing compensation / leniency to ex ExxonMobil Indonesia's vendor employees in North Aceh. DPD RI encouraged ExxonMobil Indonesia to accommodate the demands of former employees through its vendors in North Aceh Regency in the form of CSR through the establishment of a business group built. Formal answer from ExxonMobil Indonesia at the latest is sent to DPD RI for 30 days ahead. The Provincial Government of Aceh and the Government of North Aceh  Regency are monitoring the follow-up to the results of the hearing today. (ank)
