DPD RI Question the 2018 Elections Readiness to KPU


JAKARTA, dpd.go.id - The Head Region Elections (Pilkada) in 2018 is on June 27th in 171 regions consisting of 13 provinces, 39 cities and 115 regencies. To that end, Committee I DPD RI invite a hearing with the General Elections Commission (KPU) to ask the preparation of democratic parties this year.

"For the election this year from the quantification, size and number of regencies is greater than in the first election in 2015," said Chairman of Committee I DPD RI, Akhmad Muqowam in DPD Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/6).

He pointed out for East Java only 18 regencies / cities plus provinces. But actually there are 38 regencies / cities that move. "Central Java is the same. Although it looks simple but the management of its readiness should be more, "said Muqowam.

Muqowan also questioned the usual indications presented by Bawaslu such as vulnerability index or budget. On the other hand, he continued, the change of KPU also has problems. "The replacement of members of the KPU will also automatically change its style," he said.

Meanwhile, KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan explained that the 2018 general election is going well and there is nothing extraordinary. Either in terms of budget or security, it can be concluded that the preparation goes well. "Of course, the preparation of Pilkada is not without problems, but we can conclude the conveyance goes well," he said.

Although the 2018 election followed by 171 regions, he added, smaller than the simultaneous election in 2015 and 2017. But Pilkada this year does involve areas with a very large number of voters.

"We know that Java Island and Banten are not following the simultaneous election. The purpose of the Special Region of Yogyakarta is because there are special rules, but the provinces of East Java, Central Java, and West Java follow the 2018 electoral wave in which the number of voters is very large," said Wahyu.

Not to mention the provinces outside Java such as North Sumatera, South Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, and Bali is also included in the batch 2018. "So that the majority of voters involved in elections 2018," said Wahyu.
