At the End of the Term of Service, DPD RI Remains a Regional Commitment

Jakarta, dpd.go.id - DPD RI is committed to continue the struggle for the aspirations of regional communities even though the Members of DPD RI 2019-2024 period show a lot of new faces. Every aspiration brought by the DPD RI members for the 2014-2019 periods will continue to be fought for by the new DPD RI members, because every member of the DPD RI is always committed to fighting for the interests of the region.

In the Plenary Session of DPD RI (15/8), Vice Chairman of DPD RI Nono Sampono said that although most of the current DPD RI members were not re-elected, each DPD RI member remained enthusiastic in fighting for regional interests. And the struggle for regional aspirations will be continued by DPD RI Members in the 2019-2024 period.

"Even though around 46 have been chosen again, meaning that more than 30% still exists. Hopefully it will still be a strength, joining new friends going forward, will optimize and strengthen the institutional function of DPD RI. This will continue, each period will not stop, like a chain. What has been done in the past period is certainly continued by the present," said Nono Sampono.

In the Plenary Session which was also chaired by Chairman of DPD RI, Oesman Sapta, Nono added, the current members of DPD RI remain committed to fulfilling their obligations as regional representatives until the end of the period. Every DPD RI member will always follow the agenda of DPD RI activities aimed at fighting for regional interests.

"We hope that it will end it well at the end of this period. Because there is still a Joint Session tomorrow, Session of MPR, and hearing the state speech. In this fifth session period there will be two special plenary sessions, because there is still a RAPBN process and selecting BPK members, "added this DPD RI member from Maluku Province.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of DPD RI, Akhmad Muqowam, explained that actually Members in the 2014-2019 period with the 2019-2024 period were different things. But he hopes that what is done by the DPD RI in the 2014-2019 period can provide input and inspiration for the DPD RI 2019-2024 period in fighting for regional interests.

"As we were in the 2014-2019 period, we explore what the DPD RI has done before, which is then considered as input in carrying out the oversight, legislative and budgetary functions in DPD RI. Our hope is that the Secretariat General and friends who continue, bringing what develops today can become part of the consideration and input for the coming DPD RI, "said Muqowam.

Based on the report on the work visit of DPD RI members in the constituency, Muqowam saw that there were some interesting issues. For Committee I, he highlighted the simultaneous local election problems, such as amendments to several Pilkada Laws, supervision of the Village Law, and population administration issues. For Committee II, it is still related to infrastructure, industry, agriculture and plantations. Committee III currently supervises the implementation of the hajj pilgrimage, starting from the regions until today there are still those who conduct hajj supervision in the Holy Land. He also highlighted various issues related to BPJS in the form of a funding deficit for referral hospitals. And for Committee IV on regional financial matters, about the revision of the Land and Building Tax Law, 2020 Draft State Budget. *** ars
