Jakarta, dpd.go.id. – DPD’s steps in submitting the Fifth Amendment of the 1945 Constitution began to get a bright spot. MPR through fractions and the DPD RI’s group in the MPR has established a study team to discuss the points that will be the focus of the amendment process. This was revealed by John Pieris, Vice Chairman of the DPD RI’s group in the MPR in the State Dialog on Wednesday (01/08/2012).

Located at the Coffee Corner DPD RI, John said he was optimistic that the proposed amendment would have the support of the factions in the MPR. “Factions have to think clearly, the Fifth Amendment is an opportunity for strengthening parliaments, especially the DPD and the MPR,” said this senator from Maluku province. John also said that the agenda for the amendment has been prepared progressively by reviewing the proposed chapters to be changed. “Not merely to increase the authority of the DPD, but also to strengthen the presidential system, to strengthen the local autonomy, and the arrangement of the state’s commissions in the constitution,” explained John.

According to Yudi Chrisnandi, the fifth amendment of the 1945 Constitution will be an important momentum for the MPR to take the role of nationality. “This Momentum has to be taken by the MPR,” said this Chairman of the DPP Hanura. Regarding the fact that the Democratic Party as the largest faction in Parliament, Yudi has great expectations for this party to be a leading fraction or a locomotive in the process of determining this amendment. “The Democratic Party as the largest political party influence,” added Yudi.

Associated with strengthening the role of DPD through the amendment, Yudi declared his full support. “Revitalizing the role of the DPD absolutely essential to be conducted because it concerns the balance of political power and impact on regional issues,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jafar Hafsah as Chairman of the Democratic Party faction in the MPR emphasis more on encouraging the MPR rather than to talk about the struggle to lift or strengthen the DPD. “MPR consists of DPR and DPD. If the MPR was raised, the components will come up, including the DPD as one of its components, “said Jafar.
