Jakarta, dpd.go.id – ARMED conflict that currently re-occurring in some parts of Aceh became an interesting discussion in the State Dialogue of DPD RI in the lobby of DPD RI, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (18/01/12). Dialogue themed “Unarchiving the Regional Elections Conflict in Aceh” invited Ahmad Farhan Hamid (Vice-Chairman of the MPR RI / Member of the DPD RI from NAD), Nasir Jamil (Vice-Chairman of Commission III DPR RI of the PKS Faction) and Siti Zuhro (Political Researcher of LIPI) to strip the special problems of security which allegedly associated with the election turmoil in Aceh today.

According to Ahmad Farhan, with the acceptance in writing by the parties in Aceh against the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) on the Regional Election has become the most important turning point. Although it indicates a good start, not necessarily be the final effort of the Government to resolve the Aceh conflict, for that he asked for all parties to better work together in addressing problems in areas prone to conflict, and continuous supervision to monitor developments in both fields social as well as politics and government.

Similar to Ahmad, Deputy Faction of PKS, Nasir Jamil said that the conflict in Aceh is a test for the government in managing specific regions, and the Constitutional Court’s decision is a way to reduce regional election tensions in the region of Aceh. “It should be understood that the elections in conflict zones is different from the region that has no conflict, it must have a special handling,” said Nasir, who expressed the need for new local regulations as a strong legal framework to overcome the polemic of Aceh.

Siti Zuhro also issued a similar statement to give special treatment to Aceh. According to Siti, no emergence of separatist discourse or gained independence discourse in Aceh, even it has been regarded as obsolete issues which are not relevant and significant for the people of Aceh, “it turned into a struggle that prefer non-violents or without violence but achieving goals “. Siti who for three years has been doing intensive research on Aceh also stated that the people of Aceh today only need to be heard.
