Government Welcomes Bill on Community Organizations
Jakarta, dpd.go.id – MINISTER of Home Affairs, Gamawan Fauzi satisfied the invitation from Committee III DPD RI in the Public Hearings Meeting (RDPU) held on Wednesday (01/25/2012) in order to discuss the Bill on Community Organizations. Representing the government, Gamawan Fauzi said that the government supports the initiative Bill proposed by House of Representatives (DPR) to replace Law No. 8 Year 1985. “The government welcomes the draft of Bill on Community Organizations to become law,” said Gamawan in the Boardroom of Committee I, Building B DPD RI, the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.
Furthermore, Gamawan also hoped DPD RI to contribute as much as possible in order to create the Law that address the needs of the nation. “This law is very important, do not rush in discussing it, but let us examine well and understood better,” he appealed. According to the man who was born in West Sumatra, the existence of the Law future can prevent the occurrence of irregularities and abuse of organizations as well as provide a legal shade for the authorities to curb the mass organizations.
Responding to the exposure of the Minister of Home Affairs that there are 65,000 registered organizations and many unregistered organizations, Darmayanti Lubis suggested the need for inclusion of a clear mechanism to register a community organization. “Regulation does not mean difficult, I guess it must be sharpened in the Bill,” suggested the senator from North Sumatra Province.
On the other hand, a senator from Banten province criticized government’s support for this bill should not only because of the spirit to strengthen the political system. “The bill is also to strengthen the social system because organizations can establish a civil society,” Abdi said. Although, Abdi noted that many organizations in a region is not identical with the progress of the region. (af)
