DPD Recommendations on Mesuji, Bima and Kobar Cases

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – In response to the Regional dispute on closing year, such as regional election conflicts in the West Waringin City (Kobar), Central Kalimantan (Central Borneo), land conflicts in Mesuji, Lampung Province and mining conflicts in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB), the House of Regional Representatives (DPD) RI held a closed meeting at the Parliament Complex of RI, Jakarta, this afternoon (3 / 1). The meeting listened to the results of the visit of the DPD members from NTB, Lampung and Central Kalimantan, with the Chairmen of the DPD, the Committee I and II of DPD RI toward the conflicts happened in the province.

The meeting also formulated the recommendation points as the DPD RI attempt to resolve the land conflicts in Bima, Mesuji and disputed regional election in Kobar.

Toward the conflict in Bima, DPD members have become mediating figures between the people and the police with the Regent. In the joint meeting agreement between the DPD RI, DPRD of Bima Regency, Regent Bima, Bima city police chief and Director General of Mining and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM), dated on December 27th 2011 resulted in three agreements. First, give up the violence cases to the Police Headquarters and the National Human Rights Commission to conduct an assessment of possible violations of human rights. Secondly, respect for the steps of Bima Regent to suspend exploration activities by PT. Mineral Sources of the Archipelago. Third, take immediate steps to restore security, such as police forces do not use the paddle, and all parties invite the citizens to maintain harmony.

Meanwhile, toward the case of land conflicts in Mesuji, the DPD RI also recommended a number of points, among others, formed a special committee, restore the land of the people affected by the expansion of the register 45 with the Minister of Forestry Decree No. 785/1993 through equitable land redistribution mechanism and perform repeated measurements on the location of PT. Silva Inhutani’s Right of Business, Lampung.

For recommendations on the latter case, namely in Kobar, DPD RI requested to all parties that were involved in the regional election dispute of Kobar District to maintain a conducive atmosphere, so the dispute does not widen into horizontal dispute. DPD also recommended that the dispute should be handled and resolved wisely by all parties, both national and local governments, communities, political parties and other parties.

After the meeting, the leaders and members of the DPD held a meeting with journalists and reporters.
