Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Discourse on the Regional Head General Election (Regional Election) which is held by the Regional Representative of RI (DPRD RI) raises a variety of negative and positive responses from various circles. No one can guarantee if elected by DPRD election will be cleaner than the direct election by the people. This is the theme raised in the discussion of the DPD RI State Dialogue, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (30/11/2011).

Presented as the expert, Ferry Fx. Tinggogoy (DPD members of North Sulawesi Province) pointed out that before the regional election is done, it first should be seen on which point is the weight for regional autonomy, whether at the district or province? “Then we look again whether the system can make people become more prosperous or not?”, He said.

Connected to Ferry’s talks, Yossana H. Laoly who is a Member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission II prefer local autonomy at provincial level because the government system and the landscapes are easily synergized and controlled so that people are more prosperous than the regional autonomy in the district. Yossana also more amenable if the regional election is conducted directly by the people and hope they choose a leader based on his/her integrity in order to create leaders who are really qualified.

Agreed with Yossana, ” The Regional Election which is elected directly by the people is an attempt to break the chain of politics by a handful of people in DPRD” explained Syamsul Bahri, Member of the Election Commission. If the cost issues that cause the election is done by DPRD, it is not acceptable because democracy does require a fee. “Let the people decide their own choices because they know who is the most appropriate governor for their region,” added Syamsul.

Refly Harun, who consideres the Commission (KPU) that makes the moment of regional election as the business projects also refuses DPRD to do the election because the process is certainly not free from money politics factor. The people should choose their own leaders so that their region will be developed and for that it needs the right leader whom they want.
