Jakarta, dpd.go.id – It is time for the young generation of Indonesia having the role to build a better Indonesia. The government should provide opportunities for Indonesian youth to occupy the seat of government such as legislative or even executive in the year 2014. “If there is any young man who wants to run for the next election, he must have entered into a political party first because to be candidates should at least 20% supported by political parties,” explained Saleh, P. Daulay in Dialogue of Perspective Indonesia organized by the DPD RI. According to the Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Youth Leadership Center, not only actively participating in political parties other solution is to amend the 1945 Constitution which allows the existence of independent presidential candidate, although the possibility was small.

In the same occasion, Eep Saefulloh (CEO of Polmark Indonesia) expressed that young people should prepare themselves from now in order to be a leader. They must be smart to build a political base, socialize, organize, and participate directly in the community to get sympathy and support because they will be competing with people who are already experienced.

Adding the opinion of Saleh and Eep, Indra J Piliang said “young candidates also must have a mastery of Indonesia’s territorial and have a development in political character understanding in Indonesia,” said Chief Executive of Balitbang Golkar Daily Paper. In addition, having the vision and mission to build Indonesia is also an added value for a young candidate.

As Chairman of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI), Taufan E.N Rotorasiko feels that the role of KNPI is needed to prepare the young for the presidency because until now no one has deemed worthy to be nominated. “We have to choose a young candidate who is not only broad-minded and courageous plunge in the international world, but also have the understanding and willing to fight for  the problem of youth in Indonesia such as unemployment and education,” said Taufan in an event held at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (02/12/2011).

Determining the criteria for a candidate is not easy, especially from among the young who are inexperienced. Prepare yourselves the youth of Indonesia to become a leader who dared to bring Indonesia to compete with other states.
