Prevent Indonesia into Failing State with the Spirit of Youth Pledge

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – “Does the Spirit of Youth Pledge is still exist?” became the theme of the dialogue perspective of Indonesia held by the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) to coincide with the 83rd of Youth Pledge Day, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, (28/10/2011).

Not only the youth who are active in the organization that is credited with having the spirit of the Youth Pledge and contribute to the country but the youth who excel also need to be respected. “The number of youths who donated his performance to Indonesia becomes one of the proofs of the persistence of the Youth Pledge Spirit in Indonesia despite the fact that their achievments were less appreciated by the government,” said Muh. Asri Anas as Member of the DPD RI from West Sulawesi. Asri also said that the DPD RI is supported the fifth Amendment of UUD 1945 which regulates the Independent Presidential candidate for the youth, including in the region, the opportunity to participate actively in managing the re-development of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, JJ Rizal said that Indonesian youth today think materialists and tend to try to enrich themselves. “Indonesian youth should be aware of three things namely young, go forward and realize that they can put themselves in accordance with what the Youth Pledge originator wants”, he said as a historian.

On the other hand, Muh. Fadjroel Rachman, argued that Indonesia was formed by young people, but actually destroyed by the elderly. The proof is the social injustice that occurs as well as unhealthy politics. Therefore, this proposed Social and Political Observer, “We need to regenerate the political and economic regeneration so that social justice can be executed.”

Youth today are often said to be the future leaders but in the eyes of Adhyaksa Dault, it is just a figment when the process to make them as leaders were forgotten. Going forward, this nation must be able to create a statesman politician, namely that made him/her as a servant of the nation and state, not vice versa. Furthermore, Minister of Youth and Sport Period 2004 – 2009, expressed that way of thinking, willing, and acting of this nation’s political elites are also influential. “Indonesia is said to be the failing states and listed in the 14 list of failing countries, the indicator is already there, then we must guard it, do not let it happen,” he said.
