Maximize the role of DPD RI in Bicameral Governance System

Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Still promoting the theme of the amendment, the State Dialogue of DPD RI discussed the role of the DPD RI as one of the higher institutions in Indonesia that is still questionable even considered absent. Limited authority of the DPD RI is the reason that triggers the amendment. I Wayan Sudirta (Chairman of PPUU DPD / Member of the DPD RI from Bali Province) argued that with the amendments therefore the DPD RI is able to work optimally in realizing the aspirations of local communities in particular.

Not only presenting I Wayan Sudirta, in the State Dialogue held in the Lobby of DPD RI but also inviting Hasyim Muzadi (Former Chairman of the NU) and Siti Zuhro (Observer Politics of LIPI) and Elprisdat as a moderator on Wednesday (16/11/11).

Hasyim viewed that the weakness of DPD RI lies in the internal matter related to norms and rules of the game. “Fighting spirit or a political struggle of the DPD itself is low. Sense of representation is still lacking. the DPD should be able to mobilize local leaders who have insight or statesmanship rather than party politics to talk about this amendment. ”

Agree with the opinion expressed by Hasyim, Siti Zuhro also think the need to collect figures from both regional and national levels to discuss the amendment. “It needs a breakthrough that could shock the public. A concept that can absorb people’s aspirations. One of them, as expressed by Harness (Hasyim’s nickname) by inviting the leaders who have a mind for amendment, “said this political analyst LIPI. Siti also added “the DPD must be clever and agile in exploiting such a representative system by using existing mechanisms, such as human resources, funds, and institutional support”. (DW / DV)
