For that, as a regional representative, DPD RI both institutions and individuals are expected to take a role in eradicating corruption. “The strength of the DPD exists on its members, because we have a very large direct mandate from the people, so it should be confident in fighting for regional interests of corrupt practices,” said the declarator of Practice Complaint Budget Mafia Post (Post P2MA), La Ode Ida. Unfortunately, toward its 7 (seven) years of age, the DPD RI is still limited in the duties, powers and functions. As a higher institution of the State, the DPD should be able to produce a legal product, not just mere opinions or considerations. “This is all due to changes in the Constitution (UUD) that are less strict in regulating the relationship between higher institutions of State, so many overlapping authority in the institutions,” Ridwan Saidi criticized.

According to Radhar Panca Dahana, as an institution that represents the Region, DPD is a tangible representation of cultural diversity of Indonesia. These forces are far more influential than the political forces that hide behind the party’s ideology but actually closer to the spirit of pragmatism and opportunism. “A political party has a very weak historical root and in its cultural and sociological in the life of the nation, but got a very large authority in determining the fate of this country.
