Meeting of Committee II DPD RI with the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia
Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Minister of Transportation, Freddy Numberi explained the Ministry’s vision that is the establishment of reliable, competitive and value-added transportation services. In supporting the Master Plan of Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic (MP3EI), the total budget allocation of the Ministry of Transportation for transportation infrastructure in 2012 is 19.1 trillion for all provinces in Indonesia. For example for Economic Corridor of Sumatra consisting of Aceh, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Jambi, Lampung, Bangka Belitung, Riau, Riau Islands and Bengkulu, the total budget of the Minister of Transportation in 2012 is 2.89 trillion.
Priorities of development in transport sector of the fiscal year 2012 are:
- The implementation of support in transport sector for the smooth distribution of basic needs of communities and other strategic commodities;
- The realization of transportation safety as the implementation of the Roadmap to Zero Accident program;
- Supporting the poverty alleviation program through the provision of accessibility and pioneering activities both land, sea and air;
- The development and rehabilitation of transportation facilities and infrastructure such as reduction of the backlog of railway facilities and capacity addition associated with the increased demand for transport;
- The provision of companion funds of foreign loans and grants in line with the Government policy in pursuing bilateral debt;
- The development in post-disaster areas in order to do normalization and recovery of function of transport infrastructure;
- The development of border areas/outer islands in order to maintain the sovereignty of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia (NKRI);
- The implementation of support for the transport sector for the smooth distribution of basic goods and other strategic commodities in relation with climate change related to the issues of global warming;
That was delivered by the Minister of Transportation Freddy Numberi while performing a discussion at the Working Meeting of Committee II DPD RI with the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia in the building B DPD RI, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (10/10/2011).
In that occasion, a member of Committee II, Kadek Arimbawa from Bali conveyed a question and expressed his appreciation to the Minister for the help and support to the Regional Government of Bali. Besides, some aspirations were delivered such as the Development of Dewa Ruci underpass that encounters many obstacles, “Land of Angkasa Pura I that proposes swap when it is impossible, the constraints must be completed across departments or agencies, because the community expects the underpass to reduce congestion in Bali,” he said, then Kadek expected the construction of infrastructure facilities from Gilimanuk to Denpasar to improve tourism, “I beseech that it can be prioritized in 2012,” he said.
In response, the Minister gave a straight answer, in addition he will submit a written response for the clearer data future, “The problem of Bali, this problem of tukarguling is State Owned Enterprises (BUMN), so will we communicate with others BUMN and we really encourage the tourism,” Fredy Numberi explained.
At the end of the meeting it was concluded that Committee II DPD RI and the Ministry of Transportation agree that the policy and priority program in the fields of transportation is a follow-up to the aspirations of the region in effort to increase acceleration of development that is capable of creating connectivity between regions; Committee II DPD asks to the government through the Ministry of Transportation to accelerate development of transport infrastructures such as Airports, Sea Ports in every province, especially the construction of Airport; Committee II DPD RI expects to cooperate and implement the agreements or MOU with the national airline and the Ministry of Transportation in order to synergize the support of state duties and functions for the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia.
