Working Team on Religion of Committee III DPD RI Reported Pre-Hajj Supervision

Jakarta, dpd.go.idRESULT of supervision to the implementation of pre-hajj 2011 was reported by the Working Team on Religion of Committee III DPD RI based on their working visit to three provinces, namely North Sumatra, West Java and South Sulawesi. The result was presented in the Meeting of the Working Team of Committee III on Religious Affairs located in Building B DPD RI, Parliament Complex Jakarta (26/09/2011). From the visit, some aspirations and proposals based on observations in the field were gained.

Istibsjaroh who comes into the visit team to North Sumatra suggested that prospective pilgrims who are elderly can leave earlier. “We recommend that the elderly should take precedence along with their companions,” said the senator from East Java.

Another problem encountered by Hardi Selamat Hood (senator of Riau Islands Province) when he visited West Java is the delayed determination of KBIH (Hajj Guidance Group). In addition, DPD also found complaints in the form of decreasing salaries for hajj officers as well as a sense of discrimination among the hajj officers in the country and the hajj officers in the holy land (Mecca).

Abdul Azis Qahar Mudzakkar, senator from South Sulawesi Province expressed the need to increase Hajj quota as happened in South Sulawesi. “South Sulawesi currently needs 332 additions of Hajj quotas,” said Abdul Aziz who represented Committee III making a visit to South Sulawesi. (af)
