Suryadharma Ali: The addition of quotas will be given to regions which Waiting Lists are more than 7 Years
Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Implementation of the annual hajj pilgrimage is an agenda of government which is the responsibility of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Republic of Indonesia. Minister of Religious Affairs said they had prepared with the implementation of the pilgrimage in 2011. “We have made preparations since the beginning of February 2011, we are ready and we hope that this year’s Hajj is better than in 2010,” said Minister of Religious Affairs, Ali Suryadharma in the Working Meeting of the Committee III of the DPD with the Minister of Religious Affairs in Building B, DPD RI , Senayan-Jakarta (26/09/2011).
However, the problem often cannot be avoided. Like the quota shortage problem that happens every year. Almost every province in Indonesia requires the availability of additional quota for prospective pilgrims. About 1.3 million candidates for the congregation lined up to go to the holy land. Even the waiting list in South Sulawesi and Aceh province has reached 10 to 11 years, but the addition of quotas in the two provinces are not the same, as revealed by Abdul Azis Kahar Mudzakar.
“People of South Sulawesi feel the injustice in the addition of quotas in South Sulawesi, where only gained about 330, while Aceh gained more than 1,000, whereas the waiting list in both provinces are almost the same, namely 10-11 years,” expressed the DPD RI members from South Sulawesi province.
In response, Suryadharma Ali admitted that the solution is indeed with the addition of quotas. “There is no other way to overcome long queues accretion unless by increasing the quotas,” he said.
However, it is not easily perceived. “The long queues do not mean that the Government did not pass up an attempt to overcome them. We have repeatedly expressed the request for additional quota to the Arab kingdom on various occasions. However, these requests cannot be fulfilled. “The Syarief Hidayatullah State Islamic Institute Graduate explained.
Suryadharma added that the Arab kingdom is not willing to meet the demand, but they take into account the ability of service. If the number of pilgrims overload, it is feared that disappointment will appear because the services are not optimal. Because, additional quota requests come not only from Indonesia, but also from other countries.
“So, I beg the understanding of all parties because the government cannot do more. If there is an additional quota, will be given to areas where its waiting list has more than seven years, “he promised. (Af / and)
