DPD RI Welcomed Visits of Delegation from Vietnam’s Institute for Legislative Studies
Jakarta.dpd.go.id – Vice Chairwoman of DPD RI, GKR. Hemas, accompanied by Dilp. Ing. Bambang Soeroso (Chairman of the Group of DPD RI) welcomed visit of delegation from Vietnam’s Institute for Legislative Studies in the boardroom of Vice Chairwoman of DPD RI in the Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (19/09/11).
At the beginning of the meeting, delegation from Vietnam, Le Thanh Van, Dang Minh Dao, Le Huang, Nguyaen Thach Toan, Do Quang Minh, Tran Thi Thuy Anh, and Tran Thi Thanh Thu were warmly welcomed by GKR Hemas and Bambang Soeroso as the householders, followed by an explanation about the history of the formation of DPD RI as a result of amendment the 1945 Constitution.
In her explanation, Hemas revealed some authorities of DPD which are still limited. According to her, the limited authority becomes a major problem for DPD because it is unable to fully complete aspirations of local communities and regions in the form of law to the national level.
Hemas also explained in this second period, DPD has designed a constitutional amendment in hopes of bringing DPD as other States that have a bicameral system, “hoping that DPD is closer to communities and regions as well, and can fight for problems that exist in the region to the national level,” she said.
Related to that matter, the Vietnam’s delegation said one purpose of conducting comparative studies about the constitutional development and changes in Indonesia due to the current conditions of Vietnam which is also in the process of making constitutional amendments, “we plan to make amendments and require the experience of other countries,” said Le Thanh Van as the chairman of the delegation.
On the occasion, both sides exchanged information on the form and function of parliaments in each country. One of them is concerning the process of constitutional amendment and the objective of the amendment.
The meeting closed with the hope of both parties to continue to strengthen relations between the two countries, and provision of the draft of Indonesian constitutional amendment by the Vice Chairwoman of DPD RI to the representatives of the delegation, “I hope the parliament in Vietnam could bring a result that is needed by the community as well as in Indonesia in order to do amendment,” Hemas concluded.
