Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Committee I for the first time in The Session Period I Year 2011-2012 held a session to discuss the plan and program of activities of Committee I which was chaired by Alirman Sori (Senator from West Sumatra), located in Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta on Monday (22/08/2011).

Before discussing the plan of activities, Committee I first gave feedback on the resignation of Alirman Sori as Vice Chairman of Committee I. Looking the performance and dedication of Alirman that has been successful in leading Working Team of MD3, encouraged Paulus Yohanes Sumino (Senator from Papua) to represent Committee I rejecting the resignation of Alirman. With humility Alirman accepted the decision.

In the progress of its duty performance, Committee I still has some works to be followed up, including: Bill of Land: The views and opinion of DPD RI on the Bill of Social Conflict Handling: Problems of Papua, and the State Border Issues. For the Bill of Social Conflict Handling, Committee I will visit some provinces, i.e. Maluku, Bali, Papua, West Kalimantan, Aceh and Central Sulawesi.

For Year 2011-2012 DPD RI expects that the products and vision they convey can be received and followed up by the House of Representatives (DPR RI), particularly from Commission II DPR RI. Paulus Yohanes proposed the Committee I to do political and legal approaches. “We need to do a political approach to the Commission II DPR, if it is unsuccessful, we put legal approach forward,” he said.

Alirman decided the formation of three teams that aim to enhance the role and function of DPD RI. Those teams are: Advocacy Team chaired by Alirman Sori; Socializatio chaired by Paulus Sumino; and Lobby Team chaired by Dani Anwar (Senator from Jakarta). “If necessary we will convey our opinions directly to the Executive Board,” Alirman explained. In addition monitoring on the development of products of Committee I and the intensity increase in conducting a working meeting with the related Minister.
