Jakarta, dpd.go.id – SELECTION of prospective members of BPK RI (Supreme Audit Council) to occupy the vacancy of two leader chairs that had been abandoned by T. Muhammad Nurlif and Herman Widyananda started by Committee IV DPD RI. This selection process lasted for two days from 10 to 11 August, 2011. According to Chairman of Committee IV DPD RI, Jhon Pieris, the selection process of prospective members of BPK RI by DPD is in accordance with Article 23F verse (1) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia; Article 170, Article 171 verse (1) and (2) Law No. 27 Year 2009 on MPR, DPR, DPD and DPRD; Article 14 verse (1) and verse (2) of Law No. 15 Year 2006 regarding the Supreme Audit Council; and letter of Chairman of DPD No. RI/VII/2011 PW.01/6313/DPR dated July 19, 2011 regarding submission of a list of candidates for BPK.

The agenda of fit and proper test today, Tuesday (10/08/2011) is to listen to the delivery of vision and mission of eight prospective members for BPK RI namely, Soemardjijo, Eko Sembodo, Achmad Sanusi, Bahrullah Akbar, Ketut Gede Widjaya, Eddy Rayidin, Elvin B . Sinaga, and H. Faisal. This selection process began at 10:00 am till 8.50 pm, held in Meeting Room 2A, Building B DPD RI, Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta.

In his presentation, one candidate, Soemardjijo, said that he has mission of making BPK as World Class Auditor. “Auditors of BPK must be competent and mastering international auditing standards. If BPK is strong, corruption will be reduced,” said the lecturer of Post-Graduate Program of Jayabaya University.

While another candidate, Bahrullah Akbar, conveyed the importance of synergy of DPR, DPD and BPK RI in performing supervisory duties on the use of State finances. “BPK RI is not a stand-alone institution, but is a leading sector in the supervision and its duty is a continuation of DPR and the DPD as mandated by law,” said the candidate who was also entered as a candidate of member of BPK in 2009-2014.
