Overcoming the Urbanization Flow after Eid
Jakarta, dpd.go.id – THE POPULATION in Jakarta is currently estimated at 9.8 million. The amount is estimated to be growing after the Eid day. The Urbanization flow from the Region to Jakarta after Eid will make Jakarta more dense. Especially considering the vast area of Jakarta which only 650 km2 in which it means that every square kilometers is inhabited by 18,000 residents. Urbanization will absolutely increase the problems, especially social problems in Jakarta, such as those delivered by Purba Hutapea, “The growing number of people in Jakarta will lead to increased unemployment, security and disrupted public order, and crime.”
It was announced by Purba in DPD RI Talk Show “Indonesian Perspective” with the theme “Overcoming the Urbanization Flow after Eid” located in the Pressroom DPD, the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta (26/08/2011). Further, Purba who is the Head of Department of Population and Civil Jakarta government expressed that they had carried out operations or raids as a step in addressing this urbanization. In addition they also routinely have held socialization on urbanization that discusses the rules and requirements to become an urban according to Law no. 23 in 2006.
“The capacity of the excessive population also affects the life that is not efficient,” said Azas Tigor Nainggolan, Chairman of the Jakarta Residents Forum. According to Azas, it is the result of the government that does not do equitable distribution of development due to government policy which is based in Jakarta. “Many people are interested in coming to Jakarta with the aim to improve their life because almost all the luxuries are presented here,” he added. To overcome this, Azas proposed several solutions such as moving the ministries into other areas, controlling the pace of development of Jakarta, developing and facilitating the towns around Jakarta, accommodative policies and regulations spatial specificity of Jakarta.
A.M. Fatwa added his solutions by enhancing the Law of capital city of Jakarta with the idea of making it as megapolitan because a half closed Jakarta is impossible. “In addition, the HR Department of Population and Civil needs to be improved,” said this Senator of DPD from Jakarta Province.
