Laode: Synergy of Political Elites Must Contain Substance
Jakarta, dpd.go.id – THE continuous and more-complicated national issues are suspected as the results of the absence of synergy among political elites, especially in the inter agency relations. Precisely, current synergy of the elites makes this country worse. In fact, synergy of the elites should be able to realize the national goals and ideals of Indonesia. “Synergy of the elites has not been able to prosper the people because it is still symbolic and has no substance,” Laode Ida, Vice Chairman of DPD RI, gave his opinion in State Dialogue of DPD in the theme “The Role of Elites in Synergizing Inter Agency Relations” at the Coffee Corner DPD RI, parliament complex, on Wednesday (10/8/11).
Asked about solutions for this problem, Laode proposed an idea. “We need to change the system, replace the conservative people, and display new men who are pro-people. We try to present the elites who think of the people,” he asserted.
Effendy Choirie, Member of Commission I DPR RI/Golkar faction, added, “There may be synergy, but it is used to secure the interests of the elites.” Effendy considered that the changes would happen if we do reformation again. “We need the people’s movement to change the political elites,” said Effendy.
In this case, according to David T. Hill (an Indonesian expert from Murdoch University Australia), one of the completion keys is media. David regarded that media or press can be a behavior controller for the political elites in which the political elites will have feeling of being supervised and monitored. “With media, there will be a social control over the political elites, so that we can see whether the politicians really serve the community,” David explained.
