Jakarta, dpd.go.id – ENTERING the First Session Period of Session Year 2011 – 2012, Committee IV made a change on committee chairman on Thursday (18/08/2011) in Meeting Room 2D, DPD RI Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan Jakarta. The Plenum led by Chairman of DPD Irman Gusman with the chairman election agenda of committee IV of DPD, choosing H. Cholid Mahmud (DI Yogyakarta Province) as chairman. Cholid was elected after receiving support as many as 16 votes.

Cholid who represents members of the Central Region, surpasses Litha Brent (South Sulawesi Province / Eastern Region) who get 3 votes, and Hasbi Anshory (Jambi Province / Western Region) with 1 voice. Cholid replaces John Pieries who heads the Committee Session IV Year period 2010-2011.

The election ran slow because it had been a difference of opinion about the mechanism of the election committee members, whether through a consensus agreement among the leadership candidates or voting by all committee members in attendance. In this stage, the candidate proposed is Hasbi Anshory (Western Region), Cholid Mahmud (Central Region) and John Pieris (Eastern Region). After deliberation the chairman candidate, John Pieris withdrew from the nomination. Instead, Eastern Region Litha Brent finally filed as a candidate for the chairman of Committee IV.

When questioned of his willingness, Cholid expressed readiness to accept the mandate from all members of the committee. “I am ready to accept the decision of all members, whether to appoint me as the chairman or vice chairman of the committee IV, which obviously I was not going to vote because it concerns myself,” said Cholid.
