Population Administration: Expecting Assistance from Central Government
Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Serpentine services and inaccurate population data became the basis for implementing the supervision of population administration as well as revamping the Population Administration System (SIAK) through the Population Identification Number (NIK) and the implementation of e-ID card (an electronic ID card). Committee I DPD RI who has had the Working Visit to the Papua, East Java, Gorontalo on 4 to July 8, 2011, held a session of Working Team on Population Administration, discussed the results of the Working Visit in Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (11/07 / 11).
Representing a visit to Papua, Emanuel Babu Eha (senator from Nusa Tenggara Timur) said that many settlements are located in rural areas leading to problems of lack of coordination among the technical agencies that have an impact on the poor accuracy of population data. The same thing was also conveyed by Sri Kadarwati (senator from West Kalimantan) during the visit to East Java. In addition she added some problems that occurred there such as a lack of preparation of Human Resources, the lack of electrical power in supporting technological infrastructures and foremost is the support of local budgets for the implementation of NIK and e-ID card as mentioned in the Presidential Regulation No. 37 Year 2007 Article 79. “In some regions the program budget for the population administration is not included in the proposed budget 2011, including socialization and operational personnel,” she confirmed.
Problems in Gorontalo are not much different with those in Papua and East Java. Said Akhmad Fawzy Zain Bachsin (senator from Central Kalimantan) said that cooperation should also be held with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to improve SIAK. “We hope that the central government gives some helps for example in terms of budget and more advanced technological means and hopefully our target to resolve this issue in the end of 2012 could be achieved,” he added.
