Management on Land Allocation Is Required

Public Hearing Meeting (RDPU) of Working Team on Land Bill DPD RI was held in Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (15/6). Prof. Dr. Ir. Sahala B. Silalahi (professor of land and physical resource management of land use and regional development) stated that land has an important role for every life on earth and is the parent of other natural resources.

According to Sahala, both rural and urban villages should have a good land data, in chart form, scales and maps for the regent, mayor or local governments in the region finding out the extent of land that has been allocated. Then local government gives a report to the Central Government for review of the use of the land allocation by consistently considering equity and growth in the allocation. This is one way to reduce the number of problems of land dispute was going on.

The Land Bill was prepared with consideration of Indonesia’s economy with its agrarian character and the Agrarian Basic Law which is considered out of date to remain valid even though not all so. The issue of ownership, authorization and land dispute currently occur frequently; therefore Denty Eka Widi Pratiwi (senator from Central Java) expected this Land bill could be the perfect solution that can represent the interest of society whose most rights are highly reduced in the Agrarian Basic Law.

No land in our country is free, there are owners. Before this Land Law is issued, land certificate should be completed with obligation of rights holder, so not everyone can allocate land freely,” added Sahala.
