Jakarta, dpd.go.id – Senator from Riau Islands, Hardi Selamat Hood, was disappointed with the statement of Chief BNP2TKI related to Ruyati’s deaths. As quoted by various media, Jumhur Hidayat stated that the prospective migrant workers (TKI) who want to work in Saudi Arabia should not force themselves if they are not ready in terms of physic, skill, language, culture, and mental. This is intended to avoid various problems there.

“This statement is certainly disappointing,” said Hardi in the hearing meeting held by Committee III DPD RI with the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, Monday (20/6) in DPD RI Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan – Jakarta.

According to him, the decision to assess a prospective migrant worker to be dispatched either physically, as well as skill or language and cultural knowledge is in the hand of the Ministry of Manpower. “Why did it have to be asked again to the workers (who) are going abroad?” He asked.

Hardi understood that death may come anytime and by any cause. According to him, Ruyati’s death is due to her own deeds. Which, in accordance with law it is a crime that would get appropriate punishment.

But he questioned the cause of the crime, whether it is because of the incident of employment as a laborer/maid or due to other processes. “Indeed because of her weakness or due to our unpreparedness to send the workers?” He concluded.
