Members of the expert staff of the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) declared the establishment of the Regional Expert Staff Caucus (15/6/11). Formation of the caucus begins when “Workshop on Improved Support for the Political Work of the DPD” was conducted, it was held since the date of 12 to 16 June 2011 at Hotel Atlet Century Park Jakarta.

Caucus formation was aimed as communication forum to sustain and support the strengthening of DPD RI institutions. Also intend to assist local people’s aspirations on national policy level.

In the presence of Vice-Chairman II of DPD RI, GKR Hemas and Vice General Secretary of DPD RI, Djamhur Hidayat, the declaration of caucus formation get de facto mandate and legitimacy from all regional expert staffs that following the workshop.

The idea of ​​forming this caucus was initiated by several regional expert staffs that are: Budi Santoso, Almudatsir Sangadji, Tammat R Talaohu, Dedi Wahyudi Hasta, Gunawan Undang, Ahmad Fadli, dan Taufik Arbain.

The three main objective of Caucus formations are:

1. Building strategic communication between regional expert staff in Indonesia in sustaining the constitutional duties of DPD members in the region.
2. Improving the quality and competence of local expert staffs in carrying out tasks of mentoring and absorption of the people’s aspirations for the sake of the region, nation and State.
3. Building networks and political support from the community and local institutions to strengthen DPD constitutional authority in a bicameral parliamentary system in Indonesia through the fifth amendment of the 1945 Constitution.
