DPD Requested the Ministry of National Education to Watch Over the Accuracy of Education Budget Distribution

Jakarta: The 1945 Constitution has mandated the education budget by 20% from the state budget (APBN) and local budget (APBD). Although in general the government has met the budget, but in practice there are still things that must be addressed. Deputy Minister of National Education Fasli Jalal said that the education budget issues are not on the amount that must be provided, but the accuracy of management. This was conveyed in a Working Meeting of Committee IV DPD RI with the Minister of National Education, in GBHN Building Nusantara V, Complex Parliament Senayan, Tuesday (14/06/2011).

On that occasion, Lalu Abdul Muhyi Abidin (DPD RI Senator of NTB) regretted the delay in the realization of the DAK in 2010 because of operational guidelines (guidelines) and technical guidelines (technical guidance) does not exist, so that it hampered the distribution of the budget in the region.

In response, Fasli conveyed that these problems occured because of operational guidelines and technical guidelines were still awaiting for approval from the House of Representatives (DPD RI) Commission X. “Under an agreement with the Minister of Finance, DAK is not lost, so the region can complete the budget by 2010 and implement the DAK in 2011,”explained Fasli.

Reflecting from that experience, Ministry of National Education promised to finish the 2011 operational guidelines and technical guidelines together with Commission X of DPR RI. Meanwhile, responding to the rise of radical movements that contradicted with the State ideology, Ministry of National Education has prepared a package of education curriculum with national character that will soon be applied in every level of education.
