DPD Appreciated Financial Performance of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries
Jakarta: DPD RI responded positively to the success of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) which received Unqualified (WTP) Opinion from Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for the financial statements in 2010. This increasing financial performance is expected to be maintained for the success of the vision of Indonesia as the world’s largest fish-producing countries in 2015. That is summarized from the results of the Meeting of Committee IV DPD RI with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, in GBHN Building Nusantara V, Parliament Complex in Senayan, Monday (13/06/2011).
Within the meeting, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Fadel Muhammad, explained the work plan of working group (Pokja) of Fisherman Life Improvement Program (PKN), which consists of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Transportation, Minister of Public Works, Minister of Cooperation and SME, Minister of National Education, Minister of Health, Minister of Housing, Ministry of Rural Development, Head of National Land Agency, Head of the Central Statistics Agency, and Deputy Minister for National Development Planning.
Through PKN, the development of very low-cost housing for the fishermen, the provision of fishing vessels with a capacity of 30 GT (Gross Tons), empowering people salt business (Pugar), development of ice plant/cold storage and Solar Packed Dealers of Fishermen (SPDN) have been pioneered. All of these programs are expected to improve the living standards of fishermen throughout Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Sarah Lerry Mboik (Senator from NTT) expected that savings of budget in the KKP amounted Rp. 364 887 Billion does not disrupt the existing programs. In this occasion, Committee IV proposed immediate enactment of the Bill on the island province to maximize the management of the quite-broad region of Indonesian archipelago. (SAF)
