Create the Five Principles in the Face of “Human Being”
The debate about the appreciation and implementation of Five Principles (Pancasila) as an ideology of the nation has still become the subject of many discussions. The idea that Pancasila is now becoming the symbolic ideology has increasingly reinforced questions about the proper way to appreciate and apply Pancasila. The relevance of Pancasila for the Indonesian nation was again questioned in DPD RI State Dialogue that was held at the Coffee Corner Parliamentary Complex of DPD RI Senayan Jakarta, Wednesday (01/06/11).
With the theme “The Models of Pancasila Appreciation in the Middle of Society”, the dialogue was presenting four speakers, namely A.M. Fatwa (Senator of DPD RI DKI Jakarta), Maruarar Sirait (Member of DPR RI Faction PDIP), Asvi Warman Adam (Historian of LIPI), and Margarito Kamis (Expert of Constitutional Law). According to A.M. Fatwa, the important thing to do is to create the Pancasila in the face of “human being”, not “ghost” to intimidate political opponents. “Eliminate the impression that Pancasila is something that is scary,” he said.
According to Maruarar Sirait, our nation is no longer requires the revitalization of the Pancasila ideology, if indeed it was considered good. In fact, our society has built tolerance in their own way. “Pancasila has become a commitment of the Indonesian nation, no one can take any advantage of it,” said Maruarar. One of thing that is important after the moment of the anniversary of the making of Pancasila is the government’s follow up.
In line with the above opinion, Asvi Warman asserted that what is needed is the concrete actions, one of it is with the implementation of Pancasila in the world of Indonesian education. Asvi also proposed the establishment of special institution dedicated to study and to socialize Pancasila. Margarito Kamis also agreed with Asvi’s proposal, saying that the appropriate institution to do that thing is the Constitutional Court (MK). In Margarito’s point of view, Pancasila is not a problem at the community level, but on the drafting and decision makers. “In fact, according to the study of UI, there were 70 laws that are capitalist, even though the law is a reflection of the value of which is believed by a nation,” said Margarito.
