Leaders of DPD RI Got The Honorary Visit from The Swedish parliament. The visit was received by Irman Gusman and GKR Hemas accompanied by Sultan Bakhtiar Najamudin (Chairman of PHAL), Litha Brent (Vice Chairman of PHAL) and Zulbahri—Senator of DPD from Riau Islands, located in Delegation Room of DPD RI, Nusantara Building III, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, (26/05/11).

Parliament of Sweden was represented by HE Mr. Per Westerberg (Chairman of the Parliament), Anna Kinberg Batra (Moderate Party), Mehmet Kaplan (Green Party), Johan Pehrson (Liberal Party), Roger Tiefensee (Centre Party), Bjorn Sooder (Sveringemodekraterna), Hans Linde (the Left Wing Party), Mats Odell (Christian Democrat), and Kathrin Flossing (Secretary General) and also accompanied by HE Mrs. Ewa Polano (Embassy of Sweden) and the staffs.

Mr.Per Westerberg wanted to learn more about the relationship between parliament, government and economic matters in Indonesia, as it was quoted “We want to know more about the cooperation among parliaments in Indonesia, the form of government and its economy and many other interesting things that can be discussed” he firmly said.

On that occasion Mr.Per Westerberg asked about the forms of democracy and governance in Indonesia and how Indonesia cope with the terrorist? Answering that question the Chairman of DPD RI explained that the Indonesian from 1945 to 1998 are still in the centralized form, then in the year 1998 to now, it has decentralized form, about terrorists, it is not just the problem for Indonesia, but it is the global issue and terrorists are not based on any particular religion, but extreme groups who want their purpose to be achieved by endangering others. The State of Indonesia is a country that is very unique, consisting of hundreds of languages, hundreds of tribes, with thousands of islands from Aceh to Papua, with a population of more than 200 million people. However, the Indonesian state remains intact up to now with many differences. “It’s all because there is one thing that unites us all, it is the five principles (Pancasila), because we have the ideology of Pancasila,” Irman Gusman said.
