Problems of Women and Children in Indonesia are Complex and Have a Broad Impact
Problems of Women and Children became the main discussion in the working meeting between the Committee III DPD RI with Minister of Women and Child Protection of RI, Linda Amalia Sari and staffs, which was held in Meeting Room of Committee I on the 2nd floor, Building B DPD RI, Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (16 / 3).
The Meeting chaired by the Chairwoman of Committee III, Istibsyaroh, was accompanied by Vice-Chairman Abdul Aziz Qahhar Mudzakkar. Agenda of the meeting, namely: 1. Auth and program priorities of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia Year 2011; 2. Policies related to women and children, domestic helpers (PRT) 3. Integrated Services Center of Women and Children; 4. Bill on Children Criminal Justice System; and 5. Bill on Gender Equality.
“Considering the problems of women and children in Indonesia are complex issues and affect wider community also get a huge public spotlight such as violence against women, human trafficking, many neglected children, malnutrition, maternal illness and others; therefore, the Committee III will provide feedback and questions to the Minister, “said Istibsyaroh opening the meeting.
In her presentation, Linda conveyed the activity to be conducted by the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection related to the problems that occur both in the economic, health, education, politics and others.
“The superior activities of PP & PA Ministry in 2011 that became a priority without neglecting other important activities such as national policies formulation of household economy, increasing women’s participation in politics in the legislature, women’s response to violence and protecting women workers, settlement cases of children deal with the law, other policies related to the protection of children which are violence against children, children with special needs, civil rights of children, and social problems of other children. This is also what will be our superior activities in 2011, “explained Linda.
In response to the exposure presented by Linda, Emma Yohana (Senator of DPD RI from West Sumatra Province) asked about the Proper City for Children (KLA), about what is meant by the Proper City for Children and what standards are used as benchmarks to determine an area to be the Proper City for Children.
“Proper City for Children is a development system of administrative area that integrates the commitment and the government resources, public and business are thoroughly planned and sustainable. At the national level of KLA involving the role of the 15 ministries and agencies dealing with education, health, protection, infrastructure, environment and child participation. In the 2010-2014 period, KLA is expected to be manifested in 100 districts. In the year 2011, it is expected as many as 35 districts to become the Proper City for Children, “said Linda.
While Abdi Sumaithi (Senator DPD RI from Banten province) expressed his appreciation associated with the Ministry of PP and PA programs. “I am interested in the program P2TP2A (Integrated Services Center of Women and Children) because of broad and basic program,” said Abdi.
