Irman Gusman : DPD Always Fight For Regional Aspirations

GORONTALO – Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives (DPD), Irman Gusman said that DPD is always fighting for the aspirations or interests of the community and region as a tool and actualization space of local politics at the level of national political policy in the Unitary Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

“The presence of DPD in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Gorontalo province indicates the importance of DPD RI existence in fighting for local interests at the national level,” he said when giving speech at the Special Plenary Meeting of the Regional Representatives (DPRD) Gorontalo province in celebrating the 10th anniversary of Gorontalo province, Wednesday (16 / 2).

On the occasion, Irman congratulated the 10th anniversary of the province of Gorontalo, which in a relatively young age has achieved significant progress. He hoped that the development of Gorontalo Province in the future will be more advanced, so that it can improve the welfare of society.

“For DPD, today is a memorable day, since institutionally in formal, and as leader of state institution this is the first time given a speech on the anniversary of the province which was born since 10 years ago,” he said.

He thanked the Governor of Gorontalo, leadership and members of the DPRD Gorontalo Province, as well as senators of DPD from Gorontalo on that initiative.

Irman continued, though it is limited to the functions, duties and authority of the DPD to fight for the aspirations or interests of the community and region as stipulated in Article 22D of the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia Year 1945, but DPD trying to optimize the struggle.

On the occasion, the Chairman of the DPRD Gorontalo province Marten A Taha thanked for the presence of Chairman of DPD at the Special Plenary Meeting of the DPRD Gorontalo Province with the celebration agenda of the 10th province of Gorontalo anniversary.

During a working visit, Chairman of DPD was accompanied by Secretary-General of the DPD Siti Nurbaya and four senators of the DPD from Gorontalo, i.e. Hana Hasanah Fadel Muhammad, Budi Doku, Rachmiyati Jahja, and Elnino M. Husein Mohi. There were also senators of DPD from other provinces, namely Muhammad Asri Anas (West Sulawesi), Bahar Ngitung (South Sulawesi), Iswandi (Lampung), Mohammad Sofwat Hadi (South Kalimantan), and Etha Aisyah Hentihu (Maluku).
