Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives (DPD), Irman Gusman laid the first stone in the DPD Office construction of Gorontalo Province in Gorontalo City, on Wednesday (16 / 2). DPD Office of Gorontalo province is one of the 33 DPD’s offices in the provincial capital in Indonesia according to Law Number 27 Year 2009 on the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD.

The Law 27/2009 mandates the establishment of the DPD office in the provincial capital, because Article 227 paragraph (4) states, in carrying out its functions, duties and authorities then senators of DPD having office in the provincial capital. Then, Article 224 paragraph (2) states, senators of the DPD conduct meetings with local government, the Regional of Representatives (DPRD), and element of society in their election district.

“I hope that other regions are also preparing themselves to provide their assets (land and / or buildings) to be the office of the DPD,” said Irman while laying the first stone after the speech that is given by Governor of Gorontalo. Gorontalo Provincial Government set up 3200 square meters of land as it will be a location of the DPD office on Jl Sapta Marga, near the bridge of Talumolo II in Gorontalo city.

The event was attended by Governor of Gorontalo Gusnar Ismail and his staffs, the Chairman of DPRD of Gorontalo province Marten A Taha, a number of DPD senators, as well as elements of Deliberation of Regional Leaders (Muspida) of Gorontalo province. It was also attended by four senators of DPD from Gorontalo Province (Elnino M. Husein Mohi, Budi Doku, Rachmiyati Jahja, Hana Hasanah Fadel Muhammad). This is the office where the senators will be working.

According to Irman, previously the North Sulawesi provincial government donated land and buildings for the DPD Office of North Sulawesi Province. Therefore, Irman hopes that the presence of DPD office in the provincial capital will clarify the pattern of interaction between senators of DPD and stakeholders, especially the constituents and local governments, so that the implementation of functions, duties and authority of the DPD through the aspirations absorption of society and region can harmonize the relationship of central-regional.

Irman explained that the major benefits of DPD office, among other, increasing the regional aggregation towards the central and being a tool to fight for people’s interests and also regions in the central level. “The tasks of Senators of DPD are fight for the aspirations and local interest to the central in the corridor of NKRI (Unitary Republic of Indonesia),” he said.

Governor of Gorontalo Gusnar Ismail asserted that the Gorontalo Provincial Government approving the grant 3200 square meters of land in the city of Gorontalo to facilitate the communication between society and regions in the province of Gorontalo and leaders / senators of DPD in Jakarta. In accordance with the procedures, the status of grant of land for construction DPD office in the capital of Gorontalo province is lend-use, after the building is finished then the status is changing into grant.

After the Chairman of DPD and the Governor gave speech, then they did the signing of the agreement lend-use of land from the Gorontalo Provincial Government to the DPD which is represented by the Governor of Gorontalo and Chairman of the DPD. Afterwards, Chairman of DPD laid the first stone construction of the DPD Office of Gorontalo Province which officially marks the start of projects, followed by the Governor of Gorontalo, a number of DPD senators from Gorontalo, and Secretary General of the DPD.

Laying the first stone of DPD office of Gorontalo Province in Gorontalo city was series of activities that coincide with working visit the Chairman of DPD for three days in Gorontalo Province. Together with the entourage was the Secretary General of the DPD Siti Nurbaya and her staffs from the Secretariat General of the DPD.

The days in the city of Gorontalo, on Wednesday (16 / 2) morning, Chairman of DPD attended the Special Plenary Meeting of DPRD Gorontalo Province, led by Chairman of the DPRD Gorontalo Province Mathen Taha as the peak of celebration the 10th anniversary of Gorontalo Province. After the speech of Governor of Gorontalo Province, later on Chairman of DPD gave speech “One Decade of Gorontalo province.”

Other events, Chairman of DPD visited editorial office of Gorontalo Post on Jl Nani Wartabone No. 71-A Gorontalo city and Gorontalo State University on Jl Jenderal Sudirman No. 6 in Gorontalo city to convey the stadium general (public lecture) in the presence of its academic communities accompanied by Rector of the Gorontalo State University (UNG) Syamsu Qomar Badu and Regional Secretary of Gorontalo Province Idris Rahim.
