The Working Meeting Agreements Between Committee I DPD RI and the Ministry of Home Affairs

After intensively hearing the exposure and discussion between senators of Committee I of DPD RI and the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia along with their staffs which was attended by 27 (twenty seven) senators of Committee I of DPD RI, therefore the Working Meeting on Monday (17 / 1) produced some agreements as follows:

1. Committee I appreciates the explanation submitted by the Minister of Home Affairs and their staffs relating to the issues of regional autonomy and other regional issues. The results of todays’ meeting will become the material for the Committee I and the Ministry of the Home Affairs in carrying out its constitutional duties in the future.

2. Related to some local problems which are the scope of the Committee I and become the duty of the Ministry of Home Affairs that brought up today, whether the one that hasn’t been found any solution or still in progress, the Minister of Home Affairs is willing to involve members of the Committee I in monitoring the measures / efforts to the settlement of these problems by the Ministry of the Home Affairs with regard to the provisions of legislation and regulations.

3. Minister of Home Affairs, as agreed in a meeting on January 20th, 2010, remains committed in the framework of strengthening the role and function of DPD RI in fighting for community and regional aspirations, by assigning some authorized officials of at least echelon one to be able to accept and facilitate the member of DPD RI by followed-up the findings / aspirations of the people and areas related to the duties and functions of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

4. Along with this working meeting, there are some problems that need to be followed up with the more specific agenda of meetings including: Discussion of Evaluation for New Autonomous Region, Discussion of Evaluation for the General Election Implementation of the Head of Region, Discussion of Local Government Bill, Discussion of General Election Bill, and Discussion of the Village Bill.

5. In an effort to increase the capacity of the prospective Head of Region and in order to maintain the authority of regional governments. DPD RI together with the Ministry of the Home Affairs agreed to “quantitatively” the moral defect criteria in the nomination of Regional Head Election Bill.

6. Committee I and the Ministry of the Interior agreed to enhance cooperation in the future with respect to the Working Meeting Agreement that is agreed on January 20th, 2010 in its efforts to improve implementation of regional autonomy as well as repair some of the related legislation, the Minister of Home Affairs will designate their staffs to provide more technical explanation of some of the design concept of legislation that are being formulated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

7. The follow-up of the Working Meeting Agreement for today will become the talking point between DPD RI Committee I and the Ministry of Home Affairs for the upcoming meeting.
