The Committee I of the Regional Representatives Council rejected the government proposal about the Privileges Bill of Yogyakarta. This statement was delivered in a press conference in the press room DPD RI, Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (19/01). The press conference was attended by Ferry F.X. Tinggogoy (DPD senator from North Sulawesi Province), I Wayan Sudirta (DPD senator from Bali Province), Paulus Yohanes Sumino (DPD senator from Papua Province), Denty Eka Pratiwi (DPD senator from Central Java), and Hafidh Asrom (DPD senator of Committee II from DIY Province).

Committee I has a certain view that the substances contained in the Privileges Bill of DIY as a whole still contains a lot of weaknesses either philosophical, juridical and historical. Furthermore, the Committee I has a view that this bill is only a government effort to resist demands from the people of Yogyakarta toword the procedure on how the government should be done in Yogyakarta.
