Chairman of DPD RI Got a Fieldwork Visit from Students of Diponegoro University
Jakarta, November 30, 2010 – Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Irman Gusman, got a fieldwork visit from Students of Constitutional Law (KKL HTN 2010) Law Faculty of Diponegoro University on Monday (29/11) at the Senayan Complex Parliament. Present at the hearings are 45 students in VII semester of Constitutional Law, 5 Lecturers in Constitutional Law and Senator of DPD RI Central Java province, GKR Ayu Koes Indriyah.
KKL HTN 2010 is aimed to increase the enrichment of knowledge that is considered very important for students of Constitutional Law, so that it will produce a highly competitive and competent law graduates that also sensitive to current realities.
At this visit, Irman Gusman explained to participants of KKL regarding the position, duties, functions and authority of DPD RI in the Indonesian state administration system, and also on strengthening the position and authority of the discourse of DPD RI in the constitutional system.
Irman said, before the amendment of the 1945 Constitution, the MPR is the highest state institution with such a large authority to select and dismiss the president and vice president and formulates State Policy Guidelines (GBHN). But the 1945 Constitution amendment has been aligning the position of high state institutions namely the President, MPR, DPR, DPD, MK, KY, BPK, and MA. “Parallel position of these institutions asserted that there is no longer absolute power in the hands of an institution, but that power independently separated into the three branches of power which are executive, legislative, and judiciary,” said Irman.
“All that is done by DPD RI are aimed to fight for the aspirations of local communities in national policy. DPD RI remains committed to uphold the existence of the region as a manifestation of our attention toward local development. That is the commitment of DPD RI in developing regions to promote the country. Therefore, it is appropriate for an institution that representing, as well as voicing the aspirations of local communities is rewarded with the best, “advised Irman. ***
