DPD Hoped that Public Transportation and Price of Basic Needs would not being problems
Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives (DPD), Irman Gusman reminded the Government that the issue of public transportation availability and its supporting infrastructure also the price of basic needs would not disturb Muslims in celebrating Idul Fitri 1431 H. “Welcoming Eid, two things that have to be concerned are transportation and prices of basic commodities,” revealed Irman after opened the DPD plenary session at Nusantara V Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (3 / 9).
Its agenda was report progress in duties implementing of each organ of DPD and Group of DPD in MPR also the ratification of DPD’s decision.
It ascertained that most of Indonesian people using public transportation for going home in Lebaran. Of course, mobility from one region to another were implicating to economic-social aspects through the distribution of goods and people. “They were doing movements simultaneously and massive.”
Distribution became easier and faster if public transportation was functioning properly. Availability of existing public transportation, whether by land, sea or air, should be anticipated in accordance with the estimated number of people who going home. “The preparation should be done well,” explained Irman.
In addition to the availability of public transportation, DPD also reminded the Government to take care seriously of basic needs price. As in previous years, celebration of religious holiday always has an impact of inflation that put pressure on the national economy. “After the Idul Fitri, in the near future it will be followed by Idul Adha, Christmas and New Year.”
Rising prices of basic needs is a common symptom that is happening in welcoming Ramadhan and Idul Fitri which is also experienced by other countries. “But the government must have anticipatory measures such as increasing the stock, reviewing trade system, and increasing production.”
Unfortunately, continued Irman, the government was less responsive. Whereas the availability of basic needs that has reasonable price was very expected by society. Moreover, if the supply of basic needs is not sufficient then it prices will increase. “If food distribution could be arranged nicely then lack of stock could be prevented and the price of basic needs would be stable.”
