President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono conferred Awards of Honorary of Republic of Indonesia (RI) to the 32 figures that are deemed meritorious in the field of prosperity, progress, and welfare state. Awards of Merit of Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana are conferred by President to the Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives (DPD) Irman Gusman and Bintang Mahaputera Utama to Vice Chairman of the DPD Laode Ida.

The event took place at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Friday (13/8) afternoon, which pinned by President. The President conferred seven Awards of Honorary of the Republic of Indonesia, i.e. Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana, Bintang Mahaputra Utama, Bintang Mahaputera Pratama, Bintang Jasa Utama, Bintang Jasa Pratama, Bintang Jasa Nararya, and Bintang Budaya Parama Dharma.

Bintang Mahaputra Adipradana and Bintang Mahaputera Utama are awards that are given for services in various fields which are useful to the prosperity, progress, and welfare state. Its awarding is based on Presidential Decree No. 36 Year 2010.

Among those who receiving this award are a former Minister of Environment (Meneg LH) Rachmat Witoelar who received Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana and judges of the Constitutional Court (MK) Abdul Mukhtie Fajar who received Bintang Mahaputera Utama.

Conferment of Bintang Jasa Utama, Bintang Jasa Pratama, Bintang Jasa Nararya, and Bintang Budaya Parama Dharma based on Presidential Decree No. 37 Year 2010. Awards of Honorary of Bintang Jasa Utama submitted to Waryono Karno, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), while Evita Herawati Legowo, Director General of Oil and Natural Gas of the Ministry of ESDM, was awarded Bintang Jasa Nararya. Trisutji Djuliati Kamal, a composer and pianist, received Bintang Budaya Parama Dharma.

After the conferment, the President was accompanied by his wife, Ani Yudhoyono, congratulated the recipients of the Awards of Honorary of the RI, and followed by Vice President (Wapres) Boediono and his wife, Herawatie Boediono, as well as other invitations. The event was attended among others by Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Polhukam) Djoko Suyanto, Coordinating Minister for Economics Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare (Kesra) Agung Laksono, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Marty Natalegawa, and Minister of Trade (Mendag ) Marie Elka Pangestu.

Celebration and as well as breaking fast held by the Secretariat General of DPD at Lobby of DPD who attended by the Parliament Journalists and Secretary General of DPD Siti Nurbaya Bakar and the Deputy Secretary-General of DPD Djamhur Hidayat. According to Siti, conferment of Awards of Honorary of the RI is pride for the ranks of the Secretariat General of DPD. “This event is just spontaneous, with friends of the press,” she said when she was asked to speak.

Irman thanked and stated that Awards of Honorary of the RI which had received by him and La Ode Ida were also awards of honorary for DPD as an institution. “Without DPD, certainly there will be no Awards of Honorary of the RI, Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana for me and Bintang Mahaputera Utama for Mr. La Ode. I think, this conferment was a surprisingly.”

He hoped, bintang mahaputera that they received could be a whip and spirit to develop the region through the DPD. This conferment was notified by Military Secretary of President Bambang Sutejo to Siti.
