MOHAMAD SURYA WAS INAUGURATED AGAIN AS SENATOR OF DPD

Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives (DPD), Irman Gusman guided the pledge pronunciation/pledge of position of DPD senator inter-time substitute from electoral district of West Java (Jabar) Mohamad Surya. He is a former senator of DPD period 2004-2009 which his votes was in fifth place with 1,036,824 votes or 6.02% of total valid votes Elections (Pemilu) in 2004.

Surya determined by Presidential Decision Number 29/B Year 2010 dated March 5th 2010 replacing Ginandjar Kartasasmita who sent a letter of resignation to the DPD and the General Elections Commission (KPU), dated January 26, 2010 or the day after President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono inaugurated him as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) in the period 2010-2014. Its tenure is five years and ended when the new DPD senators took the oath / pledge.

After reading the passage of Presidential Decision, before assuming his post, Surya took the oath / pledge. ‘By Allah I swear / promise: that I will fulfill my obligations as a senator of the House of Regional Representatives as good as possible and fair; that I will uphold the Five Principles and uphold the 1945 Constitution and the statutory regulations ; that I will uphold the democratic life and be loyal to the nation and state; that I will fight for the aspirations of the region which I represent to achieve national goals for the sake of the nation interest and the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia.”

Pronunciation of pledge/pledge of position of DPD senator inter-time substitute fulfils provisions of Law Number 27 Year 2009 on the People’s Consultative Assembly, The House of Representatives, The House of Regional Representative, and the Regional Representatives (Law of the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD) which states that inter-time substitute senator pronouncing pledge/promise that guided by leader of DPD.

The ceremony was attended by both of the deputy chairwoman and deputy chairman of DPD, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hemas and Laode Ida, leader/senator of DPD paraphernalia, and Secretary General (Sesjen) of DPD Siti Nurbaya Bakar and Vice Secretary General (Wakil Sesjen) of DPD Djamhur Hidayat.

In his speech after guiding the pledge/promise pronunciation, Irman said “We would like to welcome back” to Surya, a doctoral professor Institute of Educational and Teacher Training (IKIP) Bandung (1975-1979) which changed its name to Indonesia University of Education (UPI). He was expected to adapt and take part immediately remembering of DPD involvement which is more intensive in any discussion in Parliament (DPR). “After what had been fought for in the last period, we will be more enthusiastic in this period.”

During the period 2004-2009, the former General Chairman of the Board (PB) Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) was Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee (PAH) III DPD in the field of education, religion, culture, health, tourism, youth and sports, social welfare ; empowerment of women and employment. These paraphernalia are now called the Committee III of DPD.
