Ginandjar Kartasasmita was re-elected as the DPD senator representing West Java Province in 2009 legislative elections to choose senators of the DPD. This Vice Chairman of the MPR for Golkar faction won the most votes with 3031471 votes. According to the man, born in Bandung, 9 April 1941, who is also a doctoral HC from Takushoku University, Tokyo (1994), the presence of DPD is important in the reformation of RI administration system. The presence of DPD is expected to strengthen representative institutions in Indonesia democratic system so that it is more aspirational and balanced among the regions and territories. Along with that the formation of the DPD will strengthen the checks and balances between state institutions and inter-representation itself. “Of course the formation of DPD is also intended to promote the democratization process, accelerate the process of regional development, and strengthen ties in the region of Homeland frame (NKRI)”.
