SENATOR OF INDONESIA MET PRIME MINISTER OF CAMBODIA
The increased cooperation between Indonesia and Cambodia in various field need to be improved continuously in the future, thus the important meeting point between Prime Minister of Cambodian Hun Sen with senators delegation of Republic of Indonesia led by Vice Chairman of DPD RI Laode Ida. Hun Sen honestly appreciated Indonesia that assists Cambodia in many things, among others Indonesian support and effort in the realization of peace process in Cambodia, assistance Resource in several sectors in Cambodia and support on the development of economic sectors.
At the meeting held in the Building of National Assembly Phnom Penh, Hun Sen accompanied by Chairman of the House of Representatives Cambodia Heng Samrin, while Laode Ida (Southeast Sulawesi) accompanied by Hamdani Chairman of Parliamentary Relations of DPD (Central Kalimantan), I Nengah Wirata (Bali), Bahar Buasan (Bangka Belitung), Maria Goreti (West Kalimantan), Shaleh Muhammad Aldjufri (Central Sulawesi), and Indonesian ambassador to Cambodia Ngurah Swajaya. Participating accompanies the delegation of DPD, Genius Umar and Sofjan, each of them are Divison Head and expert staff of Leadership of DPD.
Delegation of DPD clearly and comprehensively got an explanation from Hun Sen about the long journey harmonious relations between the two countries since the time of President Sukarno until now. The good relationship between those two countries is strengthening determination to improve the cooperation in the future. Hun Sen is also optimistic about his country will grow rapidly especially in the agricultural sector.
He continued, now the condition of Cambodia has experienced rapid growth in development, particularly in the agricultural sector, such as rice. Cambodia has been able to produce larger than 4 million tons and has a surplus. Rice was exported to Vietnam and Thailand in the form of raw materials. In this case Hun Sen expects that there is investor from Indonesia for processing rice become other foods products.
After meeting with Hun Sen, continued to a meeting with Chairman of the House of Representative of Cambodia, Heng Samrin. Heng Samrin accompanied by senators of Parliament and Secretary General of DPD of Cambodia. Both sides want improvement in cooperation between legislative institutions will be better in the future.
The previous day (24/2), delegation of DPD had a meeting with President of Cambodian Senate Chea Sim, as well as Executive Head of Government (King) of Cambodia, Chea Sim accompanied by Senate and Secretary General of Cambodia. In the meeting agreed on the establishment of Friendship Caucus between DPD RI and Cambodian Senate.
In these successive meetings, both sides gave each other an appreciation of good relations between the two countries, especially with an important role of Indonesia in realizing peace in Cambodia and support of parliament of Cambodian in interests of Indonesian parliament, especially DPD in membership of international parliament e.g. within the scope of ASEAN Interparliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). These good relations also agreed with increasing the similarities potential of agriculture sector, culture and tourism.
The two countries determined to encourage the potential of cooperation in local government levels (provincial and district / city) in the field of economic, agricultural, social and cultural.
The next meeting will be followed up with a variety program of exchange information and best practices between those two legislative institutions in order to increase the capacity of both institutions.
Besides met with Cambodian officials, Delegation of DPD RI accompanied by Cambodian Senate and relevant officials conducted field studies in noodle processing plant and Cambodia Food Laboratory.
At the end of his visit, the delegation of DPD RI made a good relationship with Ambassador and Indonesian community in Cambodia.
